The month of April has a short set list, but the those releases are nothing to sleep on. We have some large and impressive sets being released that are also accompanied by large and impressive price tags. Two of the sets will be paired with limited release GWP’s that can sweeten the deal on making them a day 1 purchase.
Are you excited to get your hand on some new Lego sets?
10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire
This week saw Lego release concrete details and pictures regarding the highly anticipated Lord of the Rings: The Shire. Set 10354 will be available for purchase on April 2-4 for Lego insiders and April 5 for everyone else. Lego Insiders will also enjoy an exclusive GWP Smeagol and Deagol set while supplies last. The Shire will come with 2017 pieces, 9 minifigures, and cost $269.99
Pictured is the lineup of minifigures included in the 10354 The Shire. While a few have appeared in other LOTR sets, all 9 figs feature at least one new element or print making them all exclusive to this set.
Other Releases the first week of April
43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle
The Beauty and the Beast Castle will be available April 1 for Lego insiders and April 4 for everyone else. The castle is another large set with 2916 pieces, 10 minifigures, and will cost $279.99
The castle standing 21 inches tall would make a grand statement as a display piece. Disney and Beauty and the Beast fans should be excited with the fantastic color contrast and amazing dimensional details.
23156 River Steamboat
The River Steamboat is 4090 pieces, will cost $329.99, and will be available April 7-9 for Lego Insiders and will be paired with a GWP related to the steamboat, the Amelia Ticket Booth. The steamboat will be available on April 10 for non-insiders. To read the story behind the creation of this set, click here.
Another grand display piece! Pair this with the GWP Amelia’s Ticket Booth and let your display tell the whole story
The Shire, Beauty and the Beast Castle, and The River Steamboat, are all part of a broader category Lego classifies as Adults Welcome, which is a list of sets geared towards the adult Lego community that encompasses a wide variety of popular themes and genres.
40817 Yellow Travel Suitcase
Maybe it's just me, but the suitcase would be my first purchase of all the sets listed above. It is an adorable little set that could be an easy gift for Lego and non-Lego fans alike. The suitcase is vibrant in color, comes with a variety of small buildable accessories, and is loaded with charm. It depicts the suitcase of a seasoned traveler.
This set is loaded with great little details, color, and mini buildable accessories. My favorite detail of the set is the luggage tag attached to the bag denoting a trip to BLL, or Billund Airport in Denmark
While not been confirmed, this seems like the kind of set Lego would make an exclusive from Lego.com and Lego stores. Depending on the retirement date, this could be an great purchase for collectors and investors as well. We will know more after its release
Current offers and GWP’s
There are 2 great promotions happening right now at Lego.com. The first offer is 2x Insiders points on a large list of sets in the City, Creator, Friends, Dreamzzz, Icons, and Ninjago themes. The second offer is the GWP Easter Bunny Surprise that comes with a purchase of $75 and above. Both promotions will end on April 2.
Spider-Verse CMF rumored to release sept 2025
The latest rumors to come from the Collectible Minifigure series theme is a Spider-Verse line that will be available in September of 2025. This will be series 28 and consist of 12 minififures at $4.99 each
In Summary
Ok folks, that wraps up another amazing week in Lego. I love that there is always something to talk about regarding our favorite hobby. If anyone is buying the sets listed above, I would love to hear about your experience. Also, if you’re buying older releases or working on your backlog of sets (mine is about 25 sets deep at the moment), please share those experiences as well. Until next time AFOLs….
Lego announces a surprise 2x insiders point event starting today
Starting today through April 4th you will receive 2x insiders points on your qualifying purchases from Lego.com or at the Lego store. Double points do not apply to every purchase however, Lego has a list of specific sets that qualify for the promotion, you can check that out here.
While the promotion is limited to a few themes, the selection of sets is a good one in my opinion. Themes included in the promotion are City, Creator 3 in 1, Friends, Dreamzzz, Lego Icons, and Ninjago.
Double points equates to about 10% cash value if you were to redeem your points for cash discounts.
If you include the GWP Easter Bunny Surprise with a spend of $75, which lego has established a cash value of $19.99, this makes it an even better deal. Also, don’t forget that you can also exchange your previous Insider points for vouchers on the Micro Command Centre or any other sets that are in the rewards center.
Is there a set in the list that you have been tempted to buy and this latest promotion puts it over the top? If so, comment below, I’d love to hear about the sets you purchased.
I know I’ve had my eye on the Creator 3 in 1 T. Rex and the Blacktron Renegade for awhile now. I may just have to make a couple purchases to maximize the GWP.
Until next time AFOL’s….
Weekly Round Up
Hello again. A big thank you goes out to my initial readers of the first edition of The Brick Dynasty blog post and I appreciate those that took the time to offer feedback and suggestions. If this is your first time visiting the blog I want to welcome you to The Brick Dynasty Blog. I realize there are numerous sites on the internet, social media, and YouTube to get the latest Lego news, so I am extremely grateful that you chose to visit the Brick Dynasty blog. That being said, I hope you enjoy reading my ramblings about the hobby we all love….LEGO.
Today’s post will focus on the weekly wrap up and any other news that I did not touch on my last post.
Pokemon is coming to Lego!
If you're a fan of Lego and you have not heard the news about the Pokemon franchise coming to Lego in 2026, I have to assume you live under a rock….just kidding. The news broke this past week about the partnership which has Lego and Pokemon fans ecstatic.
This news also has other implications about the Pokemon franchise as it signals the end of Mattel and Mega Blocks having the exclusive rights to the IP within the construction toy line, which will come to an end in December 2025. Mattel and Mega Blocks have enjoyed the license since 2017 and have produced over 150 sets in the Pokemon franchise.
What can Lego do differently that Mega Blocks hasn't already covered?
While we do not have any specifics regarding sets or release dates, this partnership is a welcome addition to the ever expanding list of major IP’s that Lego now has the rights to.
Peanuts franchise is also coming to Lego
It seems as if Lego decides they want an IP they are going to go and get it. They also announced this week the Peanuts franchise will be coming to Lego. The Peanuts announcement was from the Lego Ideas review team releasing the results of the 2024 second round winners, as the Snoopy-Campfire set will be a future Lego Ideas release. No further details on a release date were made available.

Lord of the Rings: The Shire
While details about the latest Lord of the Rings set have been extremely slim and an official reveal, except for the picture below, has not taken place at time of this writing, Lego did reveal a couple significant hints of its debut in April. There was a single picture of Lego Icons: Lord of the Rings: The Shire set number 10354. There was also mention that the designer of the set, Kenyon Andrew Brady, will be at a signing event on April 5th. Signed copies of the set will be available that day for purchase. Hopefully more concrete details will be available soon. It’s not too far of a stretch to expect a LOTR themed GWP to accompany your purchase.

Confirmed Lego releases for April 2025
Now that we have covered what Lego has in store for the future, Let's dive into the confirmed sets that will be available in April 2025.
21356 Lego Ideas River Steamboat will be available on April 7-9 for Lego insiders only and will be paired with a unique GWP, The Ameila Ticket Booth. The steamboat will be available to non Lego Insiders on April 10th. This addition to the theme will be the largest Lego Ideas set to date at over 4000 pieces and cost $329.99 (The Titanic is in the Icons theme). While this set does not include minifigures, the details inside and out are astounding. If you want to read the entire story regarding its creation, please click here.

Lego Disney 43263 Beauty and the Beast Castle will be available on April 1st for Lego insiders and April 4th for everyone else. The castle is another large set coming in at almost 3000 pieces with 10 minifigures and will cost you $279.99. The castle design is based on the 1991 animated Disney film, which is an adaptation of the 1740 fairytale. The castle is intended for the 18+ Adult audience with its intention as a display piece and advanced building techniques within the set.

Easter GWP Announced
We just saw one amazing GWP end with the Botanicals Mixed Flowerpot but we have a new GWP that will be available on Monday, March 24. 40764 Easter Bunny Surprise will be available with a $75 spend threshold. The name of the set is spot on as this cute little set checks in at 217 pieces and has some fun “surprises” within the build.
40764 Easter Bunny Surprise
Ok folks, that about wraps up the latest highlights for the week.
My plans for the future include some upcoming posts on specific topics that will be released over the next few weeks. For instance, Lego released their 2024 financial information recently. They also announced future Lego video game development will be done in house by their own game developers as they are ending their partnership with TT Games. Another topic I’d like to address is the retirement date calendar of Lego. This seems to be an ever changing mystery, but maybe we can dive in and find some ways to make educated guesses on what sets are retiring each year. These a just a few random topics I will be writing about in the next few weeks.
As always, I would love to know what you think of the blog. Please share your comments below. I have received some emails and comments about various topics this past week and I will be addressing them in upcoming posts. Thank you to those that have reached out! I want to write what you want to read.
Also, I would like to start a section of the blog showcasing sets/displays/MOCs that you are building. If you want to share your creations, please email me at this link with a picture and brief description.
Until next time AFOL’s…..
Pokemon is coming to Lego!
Today we have a short post regarding the exciting news of Lego and Pokemon coming to terms for a new theme slated for release in 2026.
This is really exciting news for fans of Pokemon and Lego as Mattel and Mega Blocks owned the exclusive rights to the intellectual property (IP) since 2017. While we do not have specifics regarding sets or release dates, this partnership is a major addition to the expanding list of popular IP’s that Lego has exclusive rights to.

Just in case you have not seen the 14 second official sneak peak video from Lego, you can watch it below
This next section is pure speculation on my part so take it with a grain of salt….
I’m sure these contract negotiations have been in the works for awhile and Mattel knew they lost. I also believe this decision did not sit well with them and that’s when they decided to double down on the construction toy category. It was in January of 2025, when they officially announced the Mattel Brick Shop with a bold statement about disrupting the status quo and proceeded to take some not so subtle jabs at Lego regarding value and price. Obviously, Lego landed the hardest punch so far with the Pokemon announcement that rocked the AFOL community this week.
But was it a knock out punch? Only time will tell and that will be based on a few simple factors.
Can Mattel deliver a quality product that can compare with the Lego standard of excellence that has made them the most profitable toy brand in the world?
Fun fact: Lego surpassed Mattel as the most profitable toy brand in the world in 2024
Mattel has a massive line of IP’s in their portfolio, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, American Girl just to name a few. If they can create a high quality product and capitalize on the IP’s they currently own, they can most likely create a niche for themselves.
I think the best case scenario for Mattel would be to hone in on areas that Lego is not focusing on. Mattel is a large and successful toy company overall, but to compete with Lego head on specifically in the construction toy line is just not a realistic goal, at least in the short term. Interestingly enough, Mattel also has a partnership with Formula 1 racing with its Hot Wheels line. While not a direct competitor with Lego at the moment, they could expand the Hot Wheels line into buildable models to compete directly with Speed Champions and Technic. Hmmm….
Mattel has been mum up to this point regarding the specifics of upcoming sets, only saying the first wave of products will be available in May 2025.
What you do think about Pokemon coming to Lego? Will you consider buying any of the new products from Mattel? Or are you a Lego purist and completely disregard sets from the Mattel Brick shop?
Do you agree with my opinions above? Or do you see this differently than I do? I would love to engage in some friendly dialogue. So please let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
Until next time AFOL’s….

Before we get started I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Corey and I received my first Lego set when I was 5 years old as a christmas present and I was immediately hooked. My favorite themes as a child were Space and Technic with 8847 Technic Dragster and 6891 Gamma V Laser Craft as the most memorable from my childhood.
8847 Technic Dragster
The large tires and functional steering on this set blew my 7 year old mind.
6891 Gamma V Laser Craft
When I got this set for Christmas as a kid I stopped opening the rest of my gifts to go hide in my room and put this together.
What were your favorite sets growing up? Or what was the set that made you fall in love with Lego? I would love to hear about them and feature some stories in upcoming posts. Enough about me, let’s talk Lego….Here’s whats happening in the month of March
Current Promotions
The most recent promotion currently underway till March 21st is the Botanicals Mixed Flowerpot with a purchase threshold of $150 USD. The mixed flowerpot is a beautiful set so you will want to act fast if this is a must have as it will only be available for a few more days from Lego.com. It is already being sold on the secondary market for $40 and up.
March was a huge month for Lego new releases with over 80 sets! Too many to cover in one blog post, but if your want to see all the new releases, please click here.
Here are some of major news stories and releases from Lego for the month of March.
F-1 racing comes to Lego in a big way
Lego is celebrating the 75th year of F-1 racing with over 25 sets currently available between Speed Champions, Technic, City, and Duplo themes. Lego will also be releasing a CMF style set of F-1 cars in May 2025. Lego and F-1 will be conducting special events at various races during the F-1 season including Make and Take events and photo ops. To read more about those events, please click here

Lego continues the Star Wars Helmet subtheme
March 1st also brought us the latest addition to the Lego Star Wars Helmet series with the 75429 AT-AT Driver Helmet which comes in at $69.99 with a piece count of 730.
75429 AT-AT Driver Helmet
This newest addition to the Star Wars Helmet theme is confirmation from Lego that they are continuing the line of helmet sets with rumors of a couple more helmets slated to release later this year. This is music to my ears beings the Star Wars helmet series are among some of my favorite displayable sets. I was hoping the rumors that we heard last year of the theme coming to an end were just that, rumors. Now that we have tangible proof of new helmets hopefully we can enjoy more Star Wars helmets for years to come.
Mario Day Reveal
Mario Day was March 10th (March 10…Mar 10, Mar-IO, get it?) and with that came a 2x insiders points promo on Super Mario sets which included sets from the new exciting subtheme, Mario Kart. This event also featured a cute little Mario Kart GWP polybag - Toad’s Pit Crew, with a spend threshold of $40 which ended on March 11th.
The big news of the day was the reveal of the new Mario Kart set 72037 Mario Kart™ – Mario & Standard Kart. This set will come in at 1972 pieces and retail for $169.99 USD. It is available for pre-order and will release on May 15th.
