August 2026 Lego Releases
Hey there Lego fans!
Similar to the heat in Southern California, the Lego sets have ramped up as Summer continues. July we saw just a handful of new sets, but this August we have over 80 sets coming our way. Here are some of my thoughts about these new August sets:
Pokemon gets 12 new Smart Play sets and that seems.. like a lot. I didn’t get a great first impression with the Smart Play brick when I tested it with a Star Wars set and Darth Vader minifigure, so I’m not super excited about Smart Play and Pokemon. Although that Mewtwo build looks great!
Animal Crossing still getting sets with the game being out for 6 years is interesting. I wonder how long Lego will ride this theme.
Even if it’s Netflix’s One Piece, One Piece fans are getting some love from Lego. I’ll always welcome another pirate ship.
I can’t wait to see what Pokemon Lego MOC builders come up with using parts from the new 3-in-1 Red Panda.
Olivia Rodrigo gets 5 new sets in the Editions theme, beating out the Beatles!
I submitted a Lego Ideas for a Speed Champions themed Olivia Rodrigo set and it got archived after these sets were announced. I thought it would be a cool and unique spin on Olivia sets tied into existing Lego themes, but oh well.
