BRICKED Review: Lego Brickheadz Potted Groot (40671)
Hello Lego fans! Let’s take a look at the Brickheadz x Marvel set Potted Groot with a BRICKED review where I’ll look at different aspects including the Box, Retirement, Investment, Creativity, Kid-Friendly, Experience, and Display-ability
Lego Brickheadz Potted Groot (40671)
I put this set aside because I wanted to build it and display Groot somewhere on my desk. I’m a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Groot is pretty cool. I will say that it sometimes trips me up when I think about which theme these types of sets falls under even though I know it’s a Brickheadz, it’s also a Marvel character, and they’re technically a part of Disney too right? Anyway, different discussion for a different time.

Box
All single Brickheadz boxes are the same dimensions, so that’s nice if you’re buying in bulk and storing them away to collect dust money or stacking these like Funko pops to put on display. The image of Groot in a pot on the front of the box tells you exactly what you’re getting in this Lego build. However, image on the side of the character Groot is a little misleading if you’re expecting the build to be the same. The other images on the box including the 1:1 of the tile brick is a nice comparison to a real brick inside, and the back image is a good way for Lego to tell you what else to buy because you need Iron Spider-Man too right?
Box score: 3 out of 5 - simple, it is what it is. The character image of Groot can be misleading, maybe?
Retirement
Head over to the BD App and we see that Potted Groot was released in February 2024 and retired in December 2025. That’s a total of 23 months on the shelves, which is fairly long, especially compared to the Wicked Brickheadz (read my BRICKED review here: Wicked).
Retirement score: 2 out of 5 - almost 2 years on shelves is a long time for many fans to pick up this set.
Investment
Potted Groot starting RRP was $9.99 USD. I should note that this set was released before the recent price increase on Brickheadz sets where we now see single BHz at $12.99 USD. That being said, Brickheadz are Lego shop at home exclusives and they had a few sales on this set in particular dropping the price to $6.99 USD. That’s a solid 30% off the RRP and I think that’s a good starting point if you were investing in these.
Investment score: 4 out of 5.
Creativity
If you’ve built one Brickheadz set then you know what you’re going to get here. However, there are a couple of areas I’d call out. First, there is some nice building techniques to create the pot connection to Groot. It’s like combining the smaller Brickheadz (think some of the Harry Potter figures) with the standard 4 × 4 Brickheadz.
Second, the details are pretty well thought out here. The potted soil effect is created with a round 2 × 2 tile, there are several printed bricks that give you the tree + leaf feel and they aren’t stickers, and the various colors, tiles, plates and slopes used on Groot’s head are really nics touches.
Creativity score: 4 out of 5.
Kid-Friendly
Kids can build Groot with 113 pieces and the instructions are simple and clear. Plus, no stickers! Also, I think Groot is a fan favorite, especially the younger Groots.
Kid-Friendly score: 4 out of 5.
Experience
I’m probably biased, but I enjoy Brickheadz. Seeing different characters come to life in the form of Lego is always a joy for me. With Potted Groot, the slight change in building technique to get Groot connected to the pot was nice. As I’ve said twice in this post, there are no stickers, so that was nice. The last point I’ll make here is that I always appreciate the “guts and brain” green and pink bricks used in Brickheadz figures (see above photos).
Experience score: 4 out of 5.
Display
Easy to display and easy to recognize. Potted Groot is currently sitting on my desk right above my laptop screen and it looks great!
Display score: 4 out of 5.
Final BRICKED Score
Lego Brickheadz Potted Groot receives an average BRICKED score of 3.57. Groot gets solid 4s for several categories including creativity and display. This was a quick build and a quick review, but overall Potted Groot is a fun one and probably one I’ll keep around on my shelves for a while.
As I continue to get back in the groove of things I’ll continue these BRICKED review. If you enjoy them, let me know!
Thanks for reading Lego fans. Keep building.
