Quick Review + YouTube Video Recap: Lego Tuk Tuk (40469)
Hi Lego fans! I recently posted this video of a speed build of the Lego Tuk Tuk set, using a new camera setup. Check it out.
Review
This is a fun little set and a simple build for all Lego fans. I really like the mix of colors they designed this vehicle with, as well as the smooth tires. I also enjoyed the fire extinguisher addition to the back of the Tuk Tuk, and the Indian-style lunchboxes on the roof. I thought those lunchboxes were suitcases or packages!
Lego Tuk Tuk
Set# 40469
Pieces 155
$9.99 USD RRP
Released January 2021
Retired December 2023
I would have loved to see a minifigure or two in this set, but at a solid 6.4 cents per piece there is so much value here. You can plug the Tuk Tuk into your Lego City and it’ll fit right in.
New Setup
I picked up a smartphone neck mount (shout out to Kenn for the recommendation) a few months ago and finally got a new phone case to attach the magnet that’s needed to keep my phone in place. My phone is still the same, so the video quality should technically be the same. It is a new camera angle, one that allows me to build while I’ve got the video pointed directly at the Lego. Additionally, I setup the build on a different station than my usual work desk.
I think it looks pretty good overall, but of course I’d love to make some adjustments. For one, I want to improve the background so I don’t have to worry about what might distract you (the viewers) from the video. The second would be playing around with the zoom intensity, maybe more or maybe less. I’ll keep you all updated when I shoot another video and get it posted.
Back to Lego
Since the Tuk Tuk retired, you can’t buy it at a retailer or at Lego s@h. You can still pick it up used on eBay, new on Bricklink, as well as several other ways. But, if you want my recommendation for a similar Lego set comparable to the Tuk Tuk that’s also a vehicle, simple yet awesome build, and same price range I’d go with the recently released John Deere 1470H Wheeled Harvester (42218).
Thanks for reading y’all! Let me know if you enjoyed this type of post with a set review, follow up of our YouTube video, and recommendation of a similar Lego set. I’ll do my best to keep them coming.
TL;DR
Simple and fun build, retired
New camera angle and setup
Recommended set: John Deere 1470H Wheeled Harvester (42218)
