Lego on the brain
When not building Lego, what other forms of Lego content do you consume? My IG feed is mostly filled with Lego influencers, funny memes, Lego influencers, some sports, some business and investing, and some more Lego influencers. Most of my doom scrolling has a heavy bias towards Lego, haha.
Even though the central theme of the IG accounts I follow is Lego, I enjoy how everyone has their own niche. I follow accounts that do set reviews, breaking news, leaks, Lego investing, building techniques, funny, and serious. I sure hope you are following The Brick Dynasty on Instagram and X/Twitter which covers a little bit of everything related to Lego, including new releases, the latest offers and sales including GWP’s and insider’s program insights, and in store Walmart clearance (check out the brick check feature)
While in the car, walking the dog, or exercising, I have found a few Lego podcasts I enjoy listening to. Some focus on news and set reviews, some on theme breakdowns, some are short form and some are longform.
Here are a couple of my weekly staples for Lego Podcasts:
AFOL’s Welcome
Bricking News
Extra Pieces (not weekly, wish it was)
If you are not familiar with these podcasts, I encourage you to check them out. If there is one not on the list that you enjoy, please let me know what you are listening to.
If YouTube is your thing, this medium most likely has the most Lego content of any social media platform. Besides The Brick Dynasty (which hosts livestream content every Wednesday night) there is so much variety of Lego content available on Youtube you could watch 24-7 and still not see all of it. There is definitely something for every fan of Lego
For those that are only here for the pictures, here is one from one of my most recent builds:
Jurrasic Park 76956 T. Rex Breakout
This is my first purchase of a retired set that I paid over MSRP. This set retired just as I was coming out of my dark age and missed it while it was still on shelves. The original Jurassic Park movie ranks in my top 10 of all time and this set recreates one of the most memorable scenes from that movie. Must have for me.
One Random Thought
Do you build more Lego in the summer or the winter? Or do you build consistently year round? I definitely build more in the winter than summer. Living in Ohio, my opportunities to enjoy the warm outdoor weather is definitely seasonal, centered on the middle months of the year. Also, during the winter months we have much less daylight compared to summer allowing me to wind down with a Lego set much earlier in the evening than I would in the summer.
I am jealous of you warm-weather-year-round folk and one day plan to live in a warmer climate. I just hope it doesn't take away from my winter Lego building….haha
Until next time AFOL’s….
