A Lego fan designer’s build becomes a reality with new set release.

Think back to the first time you built something out of Lego using your own imagination. You didn’t follow the set instructions, you just built. You put together Lego bricks, removed a few pieces, rebuilt and rebuilt until you created something of your own. Whether it was a car, a house, or a spaceship, it was a creation that you were proud of because it was made by you. I bet you thought, it would be so cool if Lego made my build into an official set. That was the dream.

When I was a kid, my creations were probably not great. But, I know I wanted all of them to come in an official Lego box, with the packaging, and instructions. I would have loved to go to the store and see my set on the shelf. I could brag to my friends that I designed a Lego set!

Today, Lego Ideas allows you to pursue that dream and turn it into a reality. Lego has officially revealed a new Lego Ideas Disney set: Pixar Luxo Jr. The new set was designed by Toby Brett, as part of the Lego Ideas program. The program allows creators to design sets, have the community support them and if selected in review Lego could produce the set for everyone to enjoy. From dream to reality. I should add that not every set will be put into production as there are milestones that need to be met and reviews that take place. But, there is a chance and that’s all that this Lego fan can ask for.

It’s great that so many people have the opportunity to enjoy this build because Lego is putting it into production. But, I also think it’s important to acknowledge and recognize the designer, Toby Brett. He’s not an official Lego designer. He’s a fan designer, and a fan of Lego just like you and I. This is inspiring to everyone at any age who loves Lego.
